Duterte in the Middle East

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spent his holy week in the Middle East to meet their three leaders and also to visit the Filipinos there. He visited Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar from  April 10-16. Through their  visit they aimed to pursue the protection of the rights and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers, To invite foreign investors, and to push a stronger partnerships .
 The president also Offered to establish hospitals in the middle east  he also added that he will get the money from the Philippine Government this is to give hospitalization for the retired Overseas Filipino Workers there. The president said,  The Filipinos who lives in the middle east are having difficulties in getting medical attention. They will either find a local hospital in the middle east or come back here in the Philippines for their medical needs.  The president said “Well of course, you cannot expect that everything is given free, so marami doong nag-retire na at gusto nang umuwi o kailangan ng medical attention,”. “Kaya sabi ko, ang hinihingi rin nila is, kailangan nila ang ospital… So I will — we will look for the money and I will ask their permission to establish even just a small, a general hospital to cater to all the health needs of our countrymen,” he added. Duterte said that the OFW’s had sacrificed themselves for our country so why not returning the favor. “Kaunting bagay lang ito para sa akin. Nung pinapadala ng mga Pilipino dito sa bayan natin, malaki masyado. It goes beyond, it contributes to the gross national product and it is a crucial part of the economy. Importante na babayaran naman natin sila ng kaunti and so if it is, find it, na papayag ‘yung mga gobyerno nila, magtatayo tayo ng ospital doon. Marami palang gusto na rin umuwi,” The president said. Duterte made this announcement during his arrival speech at ninoy Aquino International Airport


First, He arrived at Riyadh Saudi Arabia to meet king Salman of Saudi Arabia. He negotiated a total of 469 million of investments which is expected to open 16000 new jobs. Also, lots of projects were signed there like pharmaceuticals, property development, medical tourism, port warehouse management, agriculture, and tourism. He also brought 150 Overseas Filipino Workers Home with a granted amnesty by the Saudi Arabia Government. There were tears of joy from them as they arrived back home.

Second, He arrived at Bahrain to meet king Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa. Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said that there are 4 agreements that President Duterte signed this includes setting up a joint commission on bilateral trade, Avoidance of double taxation, Strengthening of aviation links and new investments. Duterte also said that the Philippines is ready to send troops if the Bahrain is being under attack. Duterte quickly added that the Philippine soldiers are experienced and disciplined.
"If you want to deploy us here, we will agree because of our national interest and the lives of Filipinos here. If you want [our] soldiers under your command, I'm willing to send you one battalion, one regiment, one division to protect you. Just say the word. And if the other countries say, 'What are you doing?’ I'll say, 'It is on our national interest,'" he said.
Lastly, He arrived at Qatar Friday April 14 as his last destination in State visit in Middle East. There were  Four agreements that was signed by President Duterte these includes Matters on culture, Investments, Technical  education cooperation and health.
