Lucio tan tax evasion case

Lucio tan one of the richest Businessman in the Philippines also the Forbe’s magazine list of the richest man in the world. He was ranked as 501st with a net worth of $3.7billion. His business are related to Various industries, including tobacco,spirits,banking, property development,Airline,Liquor and education.  Owes the Government a total of 30 billion pesos due to unpaid taxes according to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. 



President Duterte had his speech infront of Filipino community in Qatar. During his speech, The president  sue Lucio tan of evading taxes of a total of 30 billion pesos.
“Yan si Lucio Tan halos to the last day ng kampanya habol ng habol sa akin yan kase gusto magbigay ng pera sabi ko ayaw ko kaya  nga ako nanalo ng 6 million votes ” President Duterte said.
“But in the fullness of God’s time, I am sure as long as there are no corruption. At makuha ko yung taxes na hindi binayaran nitong mga animal na to.. Lucio Tan has almost 30 billion pesos he has to pay.” The president added.
Also the president added the past case of the Golden Donuts inc. which was also a tax evasion case. It is the 1.56 Billion pesos Tax deficiency that was former BIR chief failed to collect from the company. But on the following year the Ombudsman cleared the case. But according to BIR they are now investigating the previous case of the Golden Donuts Inc.
Meanwhile, The Bureau of Internal revenue or BIR stated that there is no any pending  tax evasion case to Lucio tan Parallel to the president’s Accusation.
BIR commissioner Caesar R. Dulay said to the financial reporters  that he don’t know any Tax evasion case related to Lucio Tan  Give me a few days and I’ll look at the records and talk to the BIR assessment people, and probably I can come out with a definite answer” he said. “As far as I know, we have not developed a case regarding those that the President mentioned, but if there is a case, then we will do our job,"  he added.
Dulay said that right now, they don’t see any big companies not paying taxes. But he also added that if they receive any report then they will look into it.

 However,  The Malaca ñang said that they will leave the job to the Department Of Justice or DOJ to manage the tax evasion case of the billionaire Lucio Tan as the president stated that he has to pay 30 billion pesos.
"That’s best left to DOJ," The Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said.
                                                 
This last march the Court Of tax appeals reduces the tax that Lucio tan’s tobacco company must pay from 90 million to 200k.
Also in 2006 the Supreme Court cleared Lucio tan’s Tax evasion case that is 25.6 billion
It is not yet cleared if there is really a tax evasion case for Lucio tan.Also,  Lucio Tan is not yet responding according to the accusation of the president.
